Where I reside we have a lot of power interruptions usually from storms. Since I installed IE-8 on my PC, XP Pro O/S every time the power goes off and I have to restart the PC and connect via 3G to the internet and open MSN Explorer all of my original home page is changed to sometimes Spanish or French and all of my internet passwords are gone and I have to reinstall all of the passwords. I've tried to find some way that the system would retain my info. after a power outage but can't find out if it's even possible. I have noticed this only since upgrading to IE-8, very annoying.
Any IE-8 experts out there.

Screw IE8. It's too dangerous to use anyway because hackers target it relentlessly.
Use Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera.
No one is going to know how to stabilize IE8 in such an unstable environment. Your best bet, if you insist on using IE, is to use a UPS that automatically shuts down the PC in the case of power interruption.

I agree on the UPS, best protection.
Bill, I furnished the UPS engine/generators for NASA in Pasadena....1,000 kwh diesel fired units that were always heated and ready to come on in a matter of seconds. Until they came online a large battery bank supplied power at 3,600 volts.

Yeah, I've seen them. Pretty awesome. Walmart has 1000vA units for beans.
