issue: reformatting hdd--need to export bookmarks from old to new hdd
question: how is this done?
discussion: computer is virus infected--so ive decided to erase hdd and reintall os (win xp)..need to retain the bookmarks...is there a way to do this (ie export to a usb thumbdrive etc)? if so- how is this done?

Depends on the Windows version. In XP, they are in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Favorites.
You can either connect the hard drive to another PC and copy the contents of that folder or use a bootable CD like UBCD4Win or any Linux distribution to boot up this contaminated PC and copy the files.

Ed, please use upper and lower cases when messaging here. It's much easier to read and people won't miss stuff like xp mixed in.
We also need to know which e-mail application is being used. If it's GMail, Hotmail, LiveMail, Yahoo or AOL, you don't need to export anything. It's kept on the server.
On your new setup, it's a good idea to use a browser other than IE. You get much less malware that way.
