I'm looking for a Linux distro to run on a second machine. All I need is a desktop and the capability to run OpenOffice and Thunderbird.

System Spec:-

AMD Athlon 64 3200
2Gb DDR400 RAM
80Gb HDD

I'm currently using Ubuntu 9.10 but I'm finding it a bit slow. Any recommendations?

Greetz.

personally i would either go Slackware or OpenBSD. Ir really depends on how deep you want to jump in the *nix pond. ;)

Suse linux is a nice distro and will run rather smoothly on your system setup also. :)

pretty well all the names for linux distros are cheesy; i.e. "slackware" etc. :t

Never considered slack to have a "Cheesy" name. i've always found solaris name to be different.

always get it confused for solarium for some odd reason
