Jim Axel 02-16-2000, 07:46 AM You could remove the drive and slave it into the IDE channel and suck the files off. You could make a cross-connect LAN cable and link the two PC's through their network cards and transfer the files across at network speeds. You could get a zip drive with a tape or 100MB disks and move the files through the zip drive from one to the other - then you can keep the ZIP disks or tapes handy as a back-up just in case. You could link the two with a modem to modem connection and transfer the files that way. You could buy laplink software and connect through the parallel ports and move the files that way. There's the ole "sneaker net" - using a 1.44 floppy to move the files a few at a time, but I don't recommend that. You could actually buy a multi-port hub for about $80 and just jack your laptop into it when you get home and connect that way - this is what I do recommend going forward as ther are MANY other uses for a little 5 port hub including gaming. If I've read you right over the last few months of posts, you appear to be a gamer and wouldn't mind having a little hub so you can network game with a friend or two..... That's about all that comes to mind. [This message has been edited by Axel (edited 02-16-2000).] wyvrn 02-16-2000, 08:04 AM Do laptop drives have a standard ide connection on the back of them? Axel 02-16-2000, 08:14 AM no - to link in a laptop drive, I think you may need an adapter - but I have heard of it being done. Target 02-16-2000, 09:36 AM Thats correct Axel, you'd need an adapter to hook up a laptop drive to a regular IDE channel in a PC. They're inexpensive though (only $15 even at CDW) and easy to use. Have used them several times myself. SysOpt.com
