Hi there:
I recently bought a 13GB HDD (westrn Digital)
when I detect it in the BIOS it only read 8.~GB. I formated it and still have 8.~GB.
1) where is the rest of the drive's capacity.
What shoud I do in order to make my computer see the rest of the drive?
2) What command should I use to copy the entire old HDD to the new one? Can I make it in the windows98 explorer, or it must be done only in the DOS command?
Appreciate yr help
God bless

Try updating your bios so it will see more than 8.4 GB. Manufacturers normally have the update on their site. Read the directions, bios updates are a bit tricky and can cause the computer not to boot if not done properly. Good luck.

Sarah, before copying anything to the harddrive first get the bios to recognize it's true size. to do this you will need to find either a bios update from the motherboard manufacture or use a "drive overlay" program that WD will have sent to you on a floppy disk. (dont do this option unless it is a LAST RESORT) as it's a big pain in the bumm to get rid of!

What is the make and model of your motherboard?
