I use nero to make portable cds from mp3s on my hard drive. My friend says he thinks we can use winamp to do this instead. I dont find anything about it in the winamp documentation, anyone got any ideas? Specifically, we want mp3s on the hard drive to copy as cda tracks so that we can play em in the car cd player. Is this doable with winamp or some sort of plug-in? Thanks!

It can be done using Winamp. Go to preferences, plugins and select the diskwriter plug-in for the output deivce. The files you play will be written as cda's to the directory specified when you configure the plug-in. Burn em and enjoy.

doesn't nero take em straight from mp3 to cda? i thought it did...and you can't get much easier than that. with winamp it writes a wav file and then you would still ahve to burn it to the cd with nero or adaptec, in order to write the table of contents so the files will be recgnized as cda rather than wav.

The TDK velo CD digital mixmaster software is great. It will take an mp3 playlist and burn it with one click. Total simplicity. I dont know if the software is availible with out the drive though.

Okay so it seems winamp adds the extra step as well. I think I will stick with nero as the program clearly rocks on.
