Toshiba 4030 cds notebook, while playing around the other night after a couple of beers, I have inadvertantly changed my bios password and I CANNOT remember it !!!
Have tried all combinations of passwords that I usually use but to no avail.
Toshiba service agent wants £120 to release the password !!!!
Can anyone help ?
Madmike
p.s. I must be mad to mess around under the influence !!

If you can still boot, a utility called "Killcmos" should do the trick. www.utilitygeek.com (http://www.utilitygeek.com)

Thanks Alpha,
But cannot boot until bios password is entered, this is a security measure built in to the machine in case of theft. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, otherwise my night of twiddling is going to cost me dearly !!!!

Thanks Richamies,
But my problem is I have set a password, which I cannot remember, and I cannot boot until this password is entered !!!, a catch 22 situation !!!, thanks again, any more offers ?
Mike.
I hate to tell ya mad but I think you are SOL. I have heard of people actually frying there LT by removing the wrong batteries. If it were a desktop unit no prob. but a LT I dunno. I would be leary too unless someone actually knew.

Have ya tried removing the battery on the Mobo? Worked for me on my wife's confuser. I would assume that it work on a laptop also.

I have... no I HAD a toshiba laptop. Same problem. Removed batteries. Now I have a great paper wait, w/o a bios.
Send in to Toshiba or take to authorized dealer. I think is costs $40 USD. Which is a lot cheaper than the solution I am faced with.
