Hi All,

I am trying to gather as much info on hooking up an HP9200i CD R-RW to an Adaptec AhA-2940U2 board before I buy it. I posted a question on SCSI cables and want to thank all that replied to my query.

The SCSI cable I will be using is a 5 position 50-pin active termination cable hooked into to the fast-wide socket. This will be the only device on this chain. I have a 9.1 GB hard drive connected on the 68 pin ultra 2 socket. The questions are as follows;

1. There is an active termination pin on the 9200i. Do I have to terminate the CDR-RW even if I am using an active termination cable?
2. My audio board is integrated into the motherboard and my DVD drive is hooked up to it. How can I connect the audio output of the 9200i?
3. The hard drive is set on address 0 and the adapter board is set on 7. Does it matter what address I use as long as it’s not 0 or 7?

Thanks for all your help,

Mike

Quick and Short http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

1. Yes set the termination on both the Harddrive and the Burner

2. If you dont have any avaliable sound connections (you might have to use the other type of plug end as usually the sound card/board will have 2 types of connections) You will have to do some cutting and splicing of the soundcard cables

3. Yes as long as the burner is a different addy it does not matter what you use (although the scsi 2 device must be UNDER the #7 address range)
