Installing fonts???

Hi.
I have been trying to install some fonts by just copying them in to the fonts folder "it have worked before" but they dont show up in the lists in word etc.
I then figured i have to install them and opened the fonts folder and went to shoose install new font from the arkives menu but its shaded so i cant shoose it. What have gone wrong here? anyone have any ideas?

Are you going into "Control Panel" and choosing the fonts control area to put your downloaded fonts??

Yupp. Im in the right place . I have done this many times before but theres something wrong this time i cant choose install new fonts, but it have also worked just to paste them in the right folder.
I have no qlues to whats wrong. Im just trying to get some new ideas , maybe someone have had simular trubble before.
