I can't seem to get my CDRW to recognize CD's CDr's or CDrw's I insert them. the light go on, but never flashes. then when I try to run EZCD Creator it says that the drive is not ready. I had this problem with my 32x cd rom about a week ago and it just seemed to fix itself. Auto insertion is turned on as well as disconnect. I was also having a problem with windows shutting these function off wihout reason. System Manager recognizes the units and says that there are no conflicts.
UGH!!...
Help Please...
Can't wait to buy my CyberMax K7

Not sure if this will solve your problems or not, but my burner recommends having auto-insert disabled. Disconnect seems to vary from one unit to an other. You can try to disable that as well and see if there is any change.
Since you say Disconnect is enabled now, I am assuming that you have a SCSI burner. Make sure that you have the updated ASPI layer for your controller card, updated SCSI controller drivers/firmware, updated firmware for the burner, and have applied any upgrades or patches there might be for EZ-CD Creator.
If none of that helps, please post some more info about the brand and model for your SCSI card, the burner, and other specifics about your system (CPU, RAM, etc etc)

Ok I guess if you really want I'll give specifics...LOL
Duh.. Ok Sorry.. More frusterated than thinking.
CDRW: Memorex 4224 ATAPI/IDE connected as secondary slave.
CDRW Software: Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4 deluxe with update patch and Direct CD
( the unit came with NTI CD Maker Pro but it seemed Glitchy )
System: Ex ComQrap Presario 5304. All ComQrap affiliation removed, Software, Bios, Etc. Giga-Byte 5SMM motherboard on board AGP 192 Megs shared SDRAM PC100. Most recent Bios update. SIS 530 chipset. Seagate 4.3 gig HD, Western Digital 4.3 gig slave. Win 98 SE. AMD K6-2 450.
The Problem:
1. When the blank media is inserted the CPU starts to act eradically the busy cursor flashes every 4,5 seconds. Trying to access the file or windows is interupted by the busy cursor and the window completely disappears. I am using I think Pacific Digital ( not too sure ) silver tops with no markings and blue bottoms. At this point the software simply states that the drive is not ready and i get a "retry" " cancel" window. retryingh yeilds the same results.
2. I have been successfull burning about 15 CD's doing disk at once right off the hard drive and not saving and image or layout. The drive reads normal programs ok but doesnt recognize the blank media. I have tried several brands. Using "copy" mode yields yet another coaster. Have had no luck doing CD to CDrw copying.
3. My system keeps changing the CDrom configurations. one minute disconnect is on the next its not. Same goes with the Auto Insertion. The CDR manual says to keep disconnect on and to shut of auto insertion, but i think that is for the NTI software, because later it mentions that older software asks to do that and the newer Adaptec software prefers it on. ??? Odd huh?
The last time i tried Direct CD with the CDrw media rather than CDr figured I got tired of wasting the media on coasters. In the middle of formatting the CDRW the drive got stuck on and the system nedded a hard reboot. now I cant get the drive to recognize it or any other blank media even to format it or scandisk it.
Is this info more helpful? Or are we all more confused now?
Thanks
Ted

Still unsure of what is going on it seems to be a hit and miss thing now. is this a common thing for easy cd creator? I have heard there are lots of glitches in this program, version 4 that is. Is there a possible BIOS setup I should be using?
Thanks again

As far as I know, the disconnect option is for SCSI drives so don't concern yourself with it. You mention formatting the disc- does that mean you are using the "Direct CD" program? When I use "EZCD Creator" instead of Direct Cd I don't have to format a thing. Direct CD is for basically turning your RW drive into another HD by formatting the blank media and "locking" the drive. It's set up to run at start up and loads in the systray by default. I personally don't care for it and rather use the EZCD Creator and haven't had any problems.
