It can be a number of things. Try the following;
1. Boot into safe mode. That's F8 when starting windows 95 appears. Then go into control panel, system, device manager, and delete any double entries there. It's important to delete both duplicated entries. Delete any hardware that's no longer installed on the PC. Then go into the network icon and delete all network protocols there. Then reboot the machine.
2. If you are still having problems and can't boot normally, then go back into safe mode and delete the video driver and see if that helps.
We have more options, but lets see if these help. BTW, make sure you have the bus mastering drivers and the USB (unverisal serial bus) file to install if asked.
Windows Protection Errors is basically windows trying to protect it's self from a bad confirmation.

I hate to add anyting to what Nathan, as this is almost like the first grader telling the College Professor what to do.. However, disable Plug&Play in the bios and device mgr. ,, had a Win95 unit that had this prob and this took care of it... DrVette

"College Professor"? Well thanks for the kind words, but I'm a long way from that.
Anyway, hey jump in if you have some thoughts. I may have forgotten to add something or overlooked something else. It isn't the first or the last time that's happened.
