Dave_H 02-10-2000, 08:05 PM If you tried the usuall thing under advanced/turn off task scheduler, and that didn't do it, then you have to get rid of the "microsoft critical notificatin" update in the add-remove program list. Dave PerryBoy 02-10-2000, 09:17 PM You can use msconfig.exe to turn it off ( Windows 98 ). If you're comfortable in editing the registry, you can go HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run, you will see all the programs that are set to run every time you boot your PC ( apart from your Startup groups ). There's also some stuff in RunServices. alien_from_io 02-12-2000, 01:09 PM Easier way, start+run, type msconfig, enter. Go to the start-up tab. In there you can uncheck task scheduler.. Alein pickel 02-12-2000, 07:55 PM Do what I did..delete the folder and either do it yourself or let Norton do it for you. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif grandslammer 02-13-2000, 09:27 AM I've done the msconfig thing, but I prefer to go to registry, start/run/regedit. Then go where the person above sent you, and right click on task scheduler, and select delete. The "program" still exists if you decide later to use it (RIGHT!) but the reference in registry is gone. Just use the directions PerryBoy gave you. Check under run (may be more than one), then run services (also may be nmore than one...) Good Luck Mikey P. grandslammer 02-13-2000, 09:27 AM Pickel, I didn't see you there, WASSUP! SysOpt.com
