I am trying to find out which scsi cable to use to hook up a hp 9200i cdr-rw to a adaptec AHA 2940U2 board. The board is a OEM so adaptec will not help. I bought the computer from gateway and they are clueless when you ask for help. HP told me that it is a 50 pin connector. the spec sheet that came w/ the computer shows a 50 pin internal plug. There are so many differant types of 50 pin cables I dont know which one I need.

Mikeci, For the scsi burner you will want to get a 50 pin SCSI 2 cable. it will hook to the internal 50 pin connector. there is also a 68 pin internal connector on your version of adapter. as for where to get the cable if it didnt come with the drive you can pick them up at CompUsa, Fry's ect.

It's not an HP computer is it? They come with internal adapters from 68 to 50 pin and they also include an actively terminated 50 pin cable, along with a 68 pin terminated cable.

I recommend using a terminated 68 pin cable with an adapter from 68 pin to 50 pin. I connected my Yamaha CD-RW drive to my UW that way and it works well.
