I have a lot of mp3 files (with my home-country music) and I want convert these files so I can copy them to a CD and listen from a standard CD player http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.
Please, if anybody knows how to do that let me know.
Of course, software and advice should be free.
Thank you

I have found a program called nero makes the task pretty easy. You drag the files from one window to another and hit burn. http://www.ahead.de/
This program decompresses the files as it burns them. You do not have to decompress prior to burning. It works just fine for me.

Yup, download Music Match Maker 4.0
It`s been rated the BEST MP3-WAV converter by Maximum PC.

WinAmp will also decode your MP3 files into WAV format for you. Or, most CD Burning software now allows you to burn MP3 files to audio tracks on the fly...such as Nero, or Adaptec Easy CD Creator.

How do you decompress with Winamp?

you open winamp options, then preferences...use the disk writer option, select where you want to the wav's to be written. then burn the cd. worked for 50 cds already for me.

I have Winamp 2.5e and know of no such option. Is there a different version?
I think the option is on every version of winamp. I was using that feature about a year ago. Haven't done it lately, and I don't even have it installed anymore or I would give you the step by step.
I've used Winamp 2.09 to decompress MP3s many times. The option you're looking for is "Output Plugins" under preferences. Choose the "Disk-Out" plugin and select the directory you want to decompress to under Configure. Of course, I can only assume that version 2.5 is even remotely similar to 2.09, but it's worth a shot. Good luck.

I use Winamp 2.5e all the time for preparing mp3s for burning. Right click at the top of your Winamp player, then select, "options", then "preferences", then "plugins", then "output", and finally, "Nullsoft Diskwriter"{2nd from the top of the right-side menu}.
Good Luck,
Paul

Much appreciation all. I see it now. I used to use MM jukebox to decompress but now I just use Nero, drag and drop is so much quicker. thx

i didnt think that normal consumer cd players would read wave files. i thought the music had to be in digital audio format. could someone enlighten me on the subject.
Hello,
You are not the only one. I am confused too.

The software you use to burn the WAV files to CD (like Easy CD Creator) convert the files to .CDA formatwhen it's put on the CD. That's pretty much why you need the software. Easy CD, for example, asks you to select WAV files when you're laying out an audio CD. After the burn is completed, they're in CDA format and all's well.
try www.mambox.com (http://www.mambox.com). It is a cd player that plays both CDs of regular music and also cds of MP3's. THink about it, 14 hours of music. You could set it up fro a resume play and only have to chnage it every couple of weeks. of course its not out yet, there are even rumors that it is vaporware. oh well.
Hello,
Thank you everybody. I think I know what to do.
