I CURRENTLY HAVE WINDOWS 98 verson 1 in my computer. I have a the complete oem version 2 and would like to install it, but I get a prompt telling me I must use the "upgrade" instead. Is there any way to remove my current windows 98 version and install the complete version 2 without losing valuable files & documents?

in short words..NOPE http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif to use the OEM FULL version disk you will need to delete the current Windows directory and then it would proceed. the downside to this is all of your programs that place information in the registry and such will end up not working as you will have created a new registry file during the install. The BEST thing to do if you want to go to SE is to backup any important files and information and THEN format the harddrive and start from scratch with installing the OS then your programs. The nice thing about doing this is you end up with a clean registry and not a lot of bloat as you will normally not install programs that you had previously uninstalled and they left fragments of their programing behind.

Do you have some kind of backup? CD-RW, Zip,Jazz drive to save your data?? Just out of curiousity..Why do you want SE. Internet sharing ?? The reason I ask is that I tried to upgrade and it like to destroy my computer. I have Win 98 and It works fine for
me...different strokes..Good luck in whatever you decide http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
