You need to have a start-up disk that you can make off another computer or download.
The disk will allow you to prepare your new drive with F-disk, and format, and will have a CD-Rom driver on it to allow you to install Windows.
Dave

Edit- I posted a link here, but it was for re-installing windows, most of it didn't pertain to an install on a fresh disk. I'll look for another site that would give you more help. -edit

so, if i create a startup disk from my other computer using Windows 98 4.10.1998. i can boot from there, when my bios loads when i turn the computer on? Since it has a CD-ROM driver, can i just install win98 like, right ahead, or do i need to get MS DOS, man i hate dos, it's like ancient or something..hehe... uhm.. or does FDISK do that.

You can make a start-up disk (boot disk)off your working Win-98 computer. Go to controll panel/add remove programs, and click the start disk tab. That will make a start-up disk that should have everything you need to f-disk, format and install win-98 on your new computer.
You have to make sure the Bios in the new computer is set to boot to your A drive(floppy) first, before the C drive. Then when you turn on the computer it will load all the basic DOS tools you need. All you have to do is some simple commands.

First you need to create the partition(s), with FDISK then format the drive, then your set to go. You will most likly have windows starting the install within 20-30 min, most of that time is just waiting for the format to finish.
(of course the time depends on how fast your new computer is.)

Yea, that's really easy, thanx. How much do u think a Abit BH6 will cost me. Because i want to use a mobo that uses SDRAM, but also one you could OC with. I'm planningt to get a PIII 500MHz, but, i think i rather get a socket 7. Which do u think is better? Or should i wait for a mobo, that will work on AMD's upcoming 1GHz CPU.

Sorry, can't help you on the MB, also couldn't tell you what cpu is "better' cause all I have are Pentiums (personal preferance)
I see they must have gone up, last time I gat a PIII-500, it was only $225.
Check the prices here, in the "price watch" section, on the bottom right. The last link there is a link for most other hardware.

I'm sure some others can give you more advice on the H-ware, there are a lot of good 'clockers around.
Good luck CrasH http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
