mouse not recognized in Win'98

I've recently been having problems with my mouse freezing. Now when I go into Win'98 it doesn't recognize it at all. I have the drivers, still to no avail, it's not recognized. I added PS/2 thinking that would solve the problem, nothing. (THe PS/2 is enabled in CMOS). The mouse works on other computers. Any ideas?

Last week while working on a unit, the mouse did that nasty thing to me.. On close inspection the plug was hanging on the lip where the card was seated in the case. I loosened the screw and moved the card over about the width of a fingernail thickness.. fixed it.. hope yours is simple too....DrVette
