Are toshiba laptop drives specialized? Can i buy any drive to replace this one? As long as it is the same size (12.5mm high)

I don't think you can put just any hard drive in any laptop. They are specializied to the that brand. If you have a toshiba, pull out the hard drive and you will understand.

After some hunting on the web...
Looks like there is a IDE 2.5" standard. All notbook drives must conform. There are specialty trays that these drives set in though.
