Does anyone know whether Windows 7 Home Premium has Automatic Backup? On the Microsoft website, when comparing the different versions, it only shows Win7 Pro & Ultimate as having it. But, if you check on Automatic Backup by clicking on it, it says that its on all versions of Windows 7.
Anyone know? I'm confused now.

At the Compare Site - I clicked the was this helpfull link and asked for clarification and inserted my email address...Only time will tell.
I'm pleased to report that, yes, Microsoft got the message. Based on my experience with Build 6956, it looks like the company has not only fixed the problem - specifically, by allowing you to manually define files/folders that should always be backed-up - it's rolled the changes into a much improved Backup Center that also allows you to save backup data to a network volume (among other enhancements).

Its very clear that MS is unclear on this matter.

Yea, I forgot to post some website links. Course it was almost 4am for me.
Thanks guys.
Rocketmech, I have Vista Ultimate so I knew about the backup in it. Used its backup a couple of times. Never used the network location for backup though. Don't need it. Just really need the automatic backup to backup to another harddrive. I tend to forgot doing manual backups.;)
Wish XP had automatic backup.
Guess I'll pre-order Home Premium and buy a backup utility program.

I'm guessing Backup and Restore (manually) is what comes in all versions of Windows 7.
It would have been nice if Microsoft had not had the link for Automatic Backup to go to the Backup and Restore page, and on that page for it to say that This feature comes with all editions of Windows 7.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/backup-and-restore
Click the link then look to the right where it says backup and restore. The link to this page then where it says the feature comes with all editions of Windows 7 is what threw me off.
Of course if you read it, it sounds like automatic backup to me. You just tell it what, when, and where to backup.

It says on that page:
Backup and Restore creates copies of documents, photos, and other personal files. Just in case.
A further check found this link:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questions
and upon reading it, it would seem all versions of Windows 7 can do a System Image Backup
Personally I would go with the Ultimate edition as it will have all the bells & whistles

Don't need Ultimate though. Would never use Bit locker (I don't in Vista Ultimate). And I only speak 2 languages, English and gibberish.:D
I pre-ordered Windows 7 Home Premium. It has everything in it that I need.

Agreed. Home Premium is perfectly adequate. I prefer Acronis for backup anyway. I'm accustomed to it.

Acronis is what I was thinking of buying. Have a copy of it from several years back (somewhere) that came as a hard drive backup utility. It was pretty good for what came with the hard drive.

It sure beats Ghost! I love True Image.

I run Acronis TI on my workstations and servers. You might want to that they officially support Win 7 before purchasing.

I also use True Image. I have pre ordered 7 pro though as I may need the xp mode. :)

Didn't need XP mode either for Windows 7. I have two other computers, and my main one runs XP Pro. The other one I'm still debating on which one of my other OS' to install on it, my other XP Pro, Win2k, or even 98se. Course its a socket 939 Abit mobo.
