If you're on a permanent connection, cable modem, DSL, etc, go to www.networkice.com (http://www.networkice.com) They have a firewall called BlackIce. We have a T-1 to the 'net, and it works great. It tells you the IP address of the potential hacker, and the severity.

you might also check out a program called SYSHIELD by the makers of SYGATE www.sygate.com (http://www.sygate.com)

I am trying to understand some things here, so be patient- but if you want you can laugh. All right, I have had some tests on my system done at these security sites, and want some protection software. Is a firewall enough? How will this affect my browsing?

Any other info is appreciated.

I am from the bible belt.
