What you can try doing is deleting the Hard Disk Controllers that are in Control panel/System and rebooting. WIN should redetect and reinstall some kind of new drivers for them and hopefully they are workable to support a CD Drive.

From experience I've found that sometimes there is only one chance to upgrade the MB drivers from your CD ROM that came with the MB before rebooting and if that chance is missed, one ends up at a point that you are at now.

Once the system has booted into WIN in normal mode, check and see that you are now able to use the CD Drive. The first thing you'll want to do is install the MB drivers.

Hope this helps.

actually if he goes to device manager in 95.. remove either all devices or PCI bus.. it should refind everything..

If none of the above worked. The easiest way is to reinstall windows.
When reinstalling windows, windows will detect everything.

Good Luck

Just updated hardware with new mother board, PIII, 550 mhz with 100 Mhz bus. Trying to use older 1.2 gig Harddrive, 33 Mhz and all Windows 95 will do is boot in Safe Mode, Unable to load proper drivers. No cd drive in safe mode. How can I load proper drivers on a cd disk? cd drive only available in DOS. Motherboard is PC100 M748lmrt, video, audio, and modem built in and I need to install drivers.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
