But before you do anything,A few questions. How long has the Prob been going on.And if its a recent thing have you backed up your registry. I also need to ask, do you by chance use a cable modem connection? P.S I just noticed "member" Thanks.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Jinx67 (edited 02-09-2000).] HunkyDunc 02-09-2000, 10:05 AM Jinx thanks for your reply, same as you I thought time for a re-install and have just upgraded to win98 but I still get the problem though I appear to have improved things by using the msconfig tip I picked up on this discussion page and not running so much garbage in the background but I still get the occasional glitch. I am not connected to a cable modem though I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that, I am connected by modem but just through a normal telephone line. Any further suggestions would be greatfully received Thanks Axel 02-09-2000, 02:30 PM follow this link to get a clean copy of internet explorer 4.01SP2 - www.microsoft.com/ie (http://www.microsoft.com/ie) go to the download folder at the top of that screen and select it specifically from the list. - Pull the file down onto your hard drive. Then go get your virus definitions updated and do a thorough scan of all of your hard drives. then perform a scandisk & defrag of your hard drives then execute the IE4 setup file you downloaded earlier. It will require you to connect to the internet and download about 17 MB of data for the full install. watch a good video tape while the download happens. finish the set-up and reboot your system. then you should be great for the near future. Note that I don't mention IE5.x anywhere here - I don't trust it yet. SysOpt.com
