I AM EXPERIMENTING WITH 486 MOTHERBOARDS BEFORE I MOVE UP THE LINE. I WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE THE EXTERNAL CACHE FROM 256MB TO 512MB ON AN EXISTING BOARD. I HAVE A NUMBER OF OTHER BOARDS AROUND WITH CACHE ON THEM, CAN I JUST PLUG THESE IN, OR ARE THEY SPECIFIC TO A MOTHERBOARD OR BIOS?
THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP

I think they are specific to the chipsets each MB uses. I wont pretend to know a lot about 486's as I have built just one myself, but if the chipsets on both motherboards are compatible and you have an extra cache slot, it should work. Anyone else got any better ideas ?
