Diamond V770 driver upgrade problems

Here's the deal--I cannot upgrade the drivers for the diamond video card above diamond drivers v.11.01.0402 I have tried using several nVIDIA drivers as well as the diamond drivers. In all instances the drivers were installed on a clean install of W98 with no other cards installed.

With the latest drivers from nVIDIA it would run for 15 or so minutes before hard locking. This is casual use, no gaming or anything. With a not so recent set from diamond, it would freeze immediately after the startup screen. The latest version of Diamond drivers causes it to act the same as with the latest nVIDIA drivers, accept I have about 45 seconds before it freezes. I get as far as the display icon on the control panel. I tried installing them with Ali AGP driver v1.54 and with Ali AGP driver v1.65 Doesn't make a difference. I am in dire need of help and any suggestion is a good one! Tech support at Diamond hasn't replied to my email.

I have the same video card, chip set and sound card but in a Gigabyte board. I use the Diamond Ver.4.10.01.0401 and it works great!!! I found by trying to upgrade my system became to unstable. It was my impression that Diamond didn't even do anything to the new nVIDA drivers issued, just put them on there site. But it was no good with my AliV board with all the same upgrades. I have found sometimes upgrades cause more problems than good. My card works great with this driver and its a kick *** card so if its not broke than don't fix it. Good Luck!!!!

The main reason I was worried about upgrading the drivers was gaming issues. I don't know if you are familiar with the game ultima online. I have serious lag issues that I don't believe to be connection related. Generaly I average a 170 ping over 14 hops with litle or no packet loss. But the game is quite laggy. I have played it on similar system in the same house with much better results. The reason I belive it to be video related is the mouse lags when in the game window but not over the desktop. When moving the pointer around the game window while not performing any actions, it skips all over the place and is slow to respond. Thx for the help
