Hello,

Do you have an old PC (and bios) or a new one?
Is it the size of floppy properly setup in the bios?
Did you format the floppy using format a:/s?

PC is a 486DX Bios Version is Award Modular v4.50PG.

Tried out several different drives ... All of them act the same.

Yes I did use format a: /s and the diskette will boot on other systems.
The only setting for it that I know of is in CMOS, there is is set to enable a 1.44m 3.5 in drive A.

Should be a setting in the BIOS for
"Boot Sequence" change that to A-C
or A-C-CD (get an A first and C next)

In you bios, is the setting for youre A: drive 3 1/2 1.44, or 5.5 and if it is set to 1.44 is your 1.44s cable hooked to the MB itself or a ISA controller card. Its either the bios or a fried connector. If it connects Via ISA card I think I still have 1 floating around send me a sase and its yours If thats the problem.
