I am having problems with my video card - in general I feel...
There are a few things that really drive me nuts. The first is - the original installation cd that came with the video card -upon reformatting - always has said that the VGA card is not compatible with the driver...so I've gone to the NVIDIA website and pulled their driver - installed it, and its okay, except for not being able to open NVIDIAs control panel and it gives "possible reasons: version mismatch: Reinstalling drivers blah blah"
and I've done that.
But same problem.

Basically - I have the onboard NVIDIA 6100 and a PCI-E 6600..
I have two monitors.
I set the 6100 to monitor A and the other to B, run a video on the 6100-stop it, and run it again on the 6600.. the 6600 runs choppier than the 6100....
That doesn't make any sense..
I flip the monitors and same problem..single monitor..it doesnt seem to matter..

I hate windows vista currently but I know there has to be some reason why , also, upon going to Stand By and returning - 50% of the time my dual monitor boot results in one of them going awall and basically locking up - but without affecting the system performance...

My **** is just whacky right now and I'm out of ideas - anything would be helpful.
**in the system error logs i've found this:
IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 4, function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance.

Did you try only installing the onboard video? Get that working without errors first, then try adding the 6600.

Did you install .NET? The new control panel requires .NET if I remember right.

As a general rule, I never use the drivers from the included CD. They are old by the time you get them.

Yeah the onboard video worked out fine.
the problem lies in the 6600 still.
and i had .net already installed but i reinstalled it anyway - still the same problem.

Did you set PCIe as primary in the bios?

Which driver set # are you using? Are you running Vista 32 or 64 bit?

The latest drivers appear to be the 185.85 set.

I might be wrong but you're either on-board or add-on. You can't run both at the same time.

Driver set is for vista 32, ...which i just realized ....
I may need to install vista 64 .... wow...

And yes. both are running simultaneously.

Yes. please do.

Yes. please do.

im working on it but it shouldn't really affect the video cards either way in my opinion.

the 32-bit offers more support than 64-bit vista in terms of drivers..
in this case i guess it makes sense becuase the nvidia vista-64 driver exists but i'll give it a shot and get back to this..

What do you mean? are you running a 32bit or 64bit OS? You need to install the appropriate type of driver.

I'm running 32-bit os, but the processor is 64 bit - i thought that was what you were all getting @.
and it made relatively no difference after installing 64 bit vista with the 64 bit driver.
(previous config was 32 bit vista os with the 32 bit driver package.)

sorry for the ambiguity.

Which driver sets have you tried so far? Sometimes you have to go back to a slightly older driver.
