Disappearing HP DeskJet 400 Drivers!!!

hi i don't know why this had started happening but here is my prob:

i have a HP DeskJet 400 Printer and with the latest drivers for it (v8.0)
now everytime i installed the drivers for it and go to like Microsoft Works 4.5 it gives me error message about it not finding a printer! but i checked my printer folder under Settings>Printers and its there, but after i restart my computer it totally disappears but the folder that it made on my start menu>programs is still there

i even reformated my comp and its still doing it!! it never done this before, never!

whats wrong with it???

Seems that Windows can't recognize the printer anymore http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Have you tried defaulting back to some older drivers instead? If so and that didn't help then you could try putting a new cable on and see if that helps, but I doubt that's it.

Something else you may try is testing the printer on another system.
