Hi there,

I'm desperately looking for any type of advice here... I did a BIOS update in my Amptron PII-2300 MoBo (CPU is a PII-300) to be able to use UDMA-33 and, unfortunately, the result was NOT that good... After flashing the BIOS (yes, it IS the right one - at least according to the AMI flashing utility & to Amptron's HP) and clearing the CMOS the computer now takes a long time (~10s) to show the "video BIOS" screen, another "long" (~10s) time to go from that to the BIOS screen and then it stops while displaying the "Checking NVRAM" message (it displays 2 dots and the cursor keeps blinking, but it won't go any further).

Any ideas on how to get rid of this?

TIA,

Guilherme Zahn

Have you tried clearing the CMOS? You should always do that after a BIOS update.

I had about the same thing happen to me once. I had a OEM motherboard. Micronics sold the board under their name and so did the Company BCM. Well I flashed with Micronics bios thinking it was a Micronics board and it gave me similar problems as what you are having. I went to www.ping.be/bios/ (http://www.ping.be/bios/) and looked through the award bios numbers listing(they also have AMI bios numbers) and found the number that closely matched the Micronics bios number. It showed that the company BCM made that bios. So I went to their site and had a board that looked exactly like mine and I downloaded the bios and the motherboard worked perfect after that. So I would recommend writing down the bios number that comes up at the bottom of the screen during the POST and go to www.ping.be/bios/ (http://www.ping.be/bios/) and look through their numbers and see if you can find another manufacturer of your motherboard. Then download their bios and flash with that. Hope this helps.

Try going to this website:http://www.bcmcom.com/tech/tech.htm and try to find a motherboard that looks exactly like your Micronics C200 and has the same features. Then download the corresponding bios for that board and flash your board with it. I supposedly had "Micronics C400" motherboard and the bios on it was all screwed up just like you are saying. I found a corresponding board from BCM that was the same board and their bios made my board work perfect. I think BCM makes these boards for OEMs and Micronics buys them and puts their name on the board. Hope this helps.
