I sent the following to scansoft trying to resolve this problem. Does anyone have a suggestion how to resolve my scanners inability to scan at 2400dpi? Thank you.

When I try to scan graphics at 2400 dpi, I get the not enough disk space message. I have a 10 gig hd so I know I have enough disk space. What can I do to remedy this? Thank you.

The system's resources may be too low.
SOLUTION:
To resolve this problem, you will need to free up some system resources. To do so, hold down the Control, Alt, and Delete keys simultaneously to bring up the Close Program window. End Task on all applications except Explorer and Systray. Once this is done, launch PaperPort and scan.

I tried this suggestion, but it does not work. I have WIN98, an AMD k6 2/350, 128mgRAM, 10.2gighd. The error message says not enough disk space, no mention of lack of system resources. It is defintley a scanner software problem, not a system problem. Also, I noticed I have a twunk_16.exe and a twunk_32.exe. The twunk_16.exe loads when I start the scanner. I tried unloading it and manually loading the twunk_32.exe, thinking this might solve the problem. The twunk_32.exe would not load. Also, to use the scanner part of the software, I have to remove the modem driver, restart the system, and follow the instruction screen for reloading the modem. After that, I can scan, but under no circumstances can I scan at 2400dpi. I have checked for device conflics and there are none. I have downloaded the latest scanner driver and installed it. Any other sugestions? Thank you.

What in the world are you scanning at 2400dpi? Microfilm, maybe, graphics should do good at 600. Color photos at 300. My negative scanner does fine at 1200. Unless you're scanning something very small, the file will be so big It'll take forever to save or open. FYI a 8x10" photo at 600dpi is 75,000 Kb. I used to overkill on dpi, but got tired of waiting, then found out what took what.. Hope this helps, Alien,,,,, Take me to your leader.

I did not figure out how big the file would be to scan in a 8x10 color pix But I know it would take about 6-7 hours.

I-ve seen some programs not alculate the amount of disk space free if it is greater than 2Gb. There's a reason but I dont remember.

I had to put photoshop on a different partition because it would not install. It could be the same problrem
