I have a modem(not a winmodem) that was good, but, once a time when was connected I take the telefone an pressed their buttons. bofore this the modem begun to conect very slow. it is 33.6 kbps and connect at 16.8 kbps.
WHAT'S HAPPENING???

Ok what kind of modem are we dealing with here? What kind of modem pool are you connecting to? Also what is the driver version?
The more info you can provide the better.. people need to know what they are dealing with before anyone can help you.

May have absolutely nothing to do with you - perhaps your internet service provider is having trouble at their end. Have you called a friend with a modem and tried to connect to them at a faster speed? That would be one way of testing if it was your equipment.

Picking up the phone while the modem is on-line typically doesn't cause a problem with the modem, it just kills that session. A reboot should have cleared that issue.

Other factors can cause a speed problem such as connecting the modem through another device befor going to the wall jack. If someone is bugging your phone line and does a poor job on the connections, you could see this........

But that might be getting a bit paranoid....
