Why can't you boot from the CD?

I don't know, other cd's boot, just not this one. Oh well. I finally gave in and installed 98, and then w2k so all is well again.

Do you have win98 or 95 on the same machine? If you do and want to install win2000 on another partion you can do this from win98.
You run setup from win98 like normal then come to a screen that has an advacned option click it and select "let me choose me own partition" or something like that. Prompts for restart then select the proper partition.
I hope this is what you wanted. As for the bootdisk go here (http://www.microsoft.com/WINDOWS2000/library/planning/server/serversteps.asp) it should help.

Install it from a 98 Boot floppy! That's what I do, as long as the CD-rom is IDE. Make sure smardrive.exe is on the floppy. Another option is copy the files onto the hard drive. Then it'll be easier to update it without having to stick in the CD.
