You could always live off of "150 Hours free!" America Online cds that I always get in the mail /forum/smile.gif. Other than that I don't know of any. Where I live, I get unlimited access for $20 a month.

Theres 2 that I know of (well I know theres a third one but im at a loss for what its name is) The first one and the one i recommend the most is www.netzero.com (http://www.netzero.com)
Quite simple to use, but nagged constantly by the banner on the screen. Another one can be found at www.altavista.com (http://www.altavista.com) . Im not sure where on the page but I know they offer free internet access. Also unlike the UK, we dont have hourly charges here if u dial up to a local number /forum/smile.gif
My ISP recently changed to all free format. Used to be you paid a one-time fee only, but now totally free. No banners, no bull. I've been with them since Feb '97 and no complaints.
Have heard several people say it's a hassle to get signed up & started, but once done it's done!

Hi Ceeffa,
There is a larger selection than you might imagine. For a comprehensive list, check this out (http://www.nowonder.com/ultimate/Forum13/HTML/000403.html).
Most ISPs here charge about $20/month for unlimited access. The telephone number will be local, so there's no extra charge for dialing out. It's only a personal opinion, but I'd stay away from AOL.
The problem with the free service is the annoying, animated banner sayng, "BUY ME!, BUY ME!" If you're not distracted by the "free" banner, you'll be set.

I hope I didn't give you the impression that I thought AOL is good. Visit this site to see all my reasons of why AOL isn't good: www.aolsucks.com (http://www.aolsucks.com)

Ceeffa,
AOL here is like AOL there, like AOL everywhere. At 17 million strong, they're trying to compete with Bill Gates.
Fortunately, they're just as lovable.
