I just installed a tdk vellocd writer to my abitbe6II mobo. You are required to enable DMA to achieve 8x write speeds. When I enable dma windows no longer recognizes the drive. It is still in device manager and says its working corectly but its just not there. The drive burns fine at 4x. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi JeffSP
Pardon if this is elementary, but did you install the drivers that came with your drive?
Did you check your CMOS/BIOS settings?

Thankyou for responding. No specific drivers came with the drive but it is recognized by windows as a tdk 8/4/24 cdrw. In my bios the only options I have for dma are auto/disabled. My 40x cdrom drive is running at udma33 so I do not understand why this drive wont. I tried to plug it into the highpoint controler ide slot but got a windows protection error on startup. It burns fine at 4x I am just dissapointed that it wont to the full 8. Thanks

One bright point, the slower the burn the better the cd quality. DrVette
