I have an old HP Pentium 486 Netware Server, that I have converted to a computor for one of my children to use, I am trying to install a cd-rom in it, but the system will not recognise it without setting the IRQ's, I can not figure out how to get in the bios, I have tried several keys, and combinations to get to the bios, nothing seems to work. Please help, the system has nothing on it that can't be replaced so fdisking & reformatting are options.

The model is NetServer 4/66LC, I have tried F1,F4, F5, F12, alt S, ctrl alt esc. None of these have worked. I appreciate any help.

Try unpluging the mouse. I used to do that on my 486 because I could never figure out how to get into the BIOS.

Oh boy, I have not touched an LC in quite a while. I did find some info on HP's site, but it is in .PCL format which sort of requires an HP printer to print out. If you can puzzle through doing that, here is the link http://www.hp.com/cposupport/servers/software/tecreflc.exe.html

If you want I can mail it to you as I was able to print it out. Send me an email with a snail mail address and I'll be happy to send it out. (My email is visible in my profile here, click the face/question mark icon in my post) The info that is on this reference could come in handy, but the most related thing I could find is that there is a switch block, right next to the CPU riser card. Switch 4 is called 'Config Unlock'. Changing that may get you into the setup.

I already tried the switches located inside the case, a friend suggested removing the clock which would clear the bios, which it did but now I have a check sum error, and no os, no c drive and it does not locate the scsi drives even after loading the netware system disk PLEASE HELP
