I have an internal TR-3 3.2 GB tape drive with an Exabyte Controller card. It worked fine until I went to Windows SE. Now it backs up about 24-39 MB,then the system freezes, and the tape runs away. I've followed their TS instrucations, removing MS Backup and theirs, cleaning out any remaining files, and editing the registry for remaining garbage. No luck. I have 2 disk drives and Drive Image to create backups of each on the other, but I would like to get this fixed to be able to take the tape to another location in case of storm or tornado, living in Texas. I've got a K6-2 400 w128MB, a 17GB IBM HD and 10GB WD HD. THere a no conflicts on display manager. The controller is on IRQ 5 by itself and my sound card is on 7, also by itself. I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Rick

I would suggest double checking the drive for being dirty and run a defrag and scan disk on the hard drive to be backed up. I have both a Seagate 4mm 120 (4-8 gig) and 125meter (12-24gig) tape backup units in systems and even a Iomega Ditto (1.6-3.5 gig) drive and no problem using either MS Backup (actually made by Seagate) or using the Iomega software (only works with their drive) I would also suggest double checking the drivers for the scsi card for updates and posably for firmware updates for the drive as well.

Dear Roracyr:

I don't know Disk Image works, but since you have a backup of all of your files on (what I would call) your "mirror" drive, how about doing a clean install of Windows 98SE on your boot disk and then restoring your data off of your mirror disk? By "clean install", I mean partitioning, formatting, and then running Windows 98SE setup on that disk.
