I'm trying to help a friend troubleshooting his PC. This is a Packard Bell equipment and I found inside the case a couple of IDE hard drives.
Both drives (Conner brand) are labeled "Use as pair only" and are detected by BIOS as a unique drive. I've never seen something like this, so my questions are:

1) Where can I find further information about how these drives work?

2) Is there some way to use only one of these drives if the other is damaged?

3) Do I need to use special software to partition and format these drives?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Javier.

Hi javerleo

I'm not a harddrive guru, but I found some things that will hopefully give you someplace to start.

Conner is under Seagate, maybe something there will help you http://www.seagate.com/support/

Recovering from a Failure to Boot on a Conner, Samsung, or Seagate Drive > 528 Mb:

Please post back with more info if you can on the specs.. Is there an EZ-Bios or some type of compression on the hdds? Any info will help us help you better.

I'm not familiar w/Packard Bell and if they have proprietary bios info on their hdds.

Any PB/Conner gurus? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
