I'm running MS ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP Home Edition. I've been running successfully for a couple of years and during that time have needed to delete and reset up sync relationships. No problem. Last week I needed to delete and reset up my sync relationship after moving my Outlook 2003 profile data to My Documents (to make it easier to backup).

Now while I have no problem syncing to my XV6800 pocket PC I cannot find the WM_Kathleane_02 (automatically assigned name) folder in My Documents and so cannot view and use any pics I take with my XV. Well I can Explore my device and manually move all pics to a folder on my PC and then work with them but that's extremely tedious.

I deleted all WM_* folders (but not the profiles in Microsoft/Application Data and resetup the sync relationship but it didn't resolve this problem. Any ideas?

I have not used Activesync for a while. Is there an option to set your sync folder location? I seem to recall that ActiveSync creates the folder on tis own when you set up the relationship. Could you be using the wrong path?

I couldn't find an option to allow me to choose where my WM folder will be. It sets it up automatically. I've run a Search for that folder and it simply doesn't exist on my C drive. I'm wondering if deleting all WM profiles in Microsoft/Application Data which I think would force me to re-establish a profile would solve the problem or cause more problems.

Sounds like a good idea.

The fix for this problem was so simple! When choosing what date to sync I needed to check the "synchronize files" option. When this is checked then a WM_(whatever number it chooses) folder is created and I can then access pics and docs that were created on my PDA.
