Iwill slocket-II

Can't say I'm thrilled with the Iwill slocket. As hard as I tried, I couldn't seem to get it to seat any better in the Tyan Trinity 400 MB slot 1, and I just kept getting really flaky boots (1 success out of every 3 or 4 attempts).


Finally got Win98 installed, but had to take the P3-500e out of the Iwill slocket-II and mount it in the motherboards socket 370.

I've had someone else tell me the slocket-II doesn't really seat too well in the slot 1.

Looks like I'll just get things fine tuned at 500MHz first before I go back and try again.

How many times can I take the Intel heatsink/fan combo on and off the 500e before the thermal grease/pad losses it's effectiveness?

I have installed 3 slocket-II's in the last week. Two of them in the Abit BE-II, One in a gateway 266. Haven't had any problems yet. I have also learned it is best to scrape off the pad and go to radio shack and by a tube of thermal greese for about 2 dollers.
