Is the disconnect when idle box cleared? Go to tools , internet options, connections, then select the default account then press the settings button then the advanced button. Clear the checkboxand ok out. If it still disconnects after that then your isp is doing it.(common practice to help keep the bandwidth up)

Just a thought, may it isn't IE5 but your ISP

Do what I do. Download " Spinner Plus" and have it running. You don't have to listen to the music, if you don't want to and it will keep you hooked up to the net. try it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I had the same problem when I had a dial-up.
Even though the idle box was empty, I felt that the change didn't "take". It took me several tries till it finally worked.
Try this- put the check back in the idle box and change the time to 59min. See if you can now get past 20min. If you can, remove the check, leaving 59min. "greyed out", if it still keeps cutting you off at 59min, check and uncheck the box, click O.K. twice, but on the last screen, check and uncheck a box to get the "apply" button to come up.
Know this sounds stupid, but it did work for me. I only posted this when I saw the other problems you were having because of this.

I use to have outlook express check my mail every 10 mins and that solved it for me. I could stay on forever without being disconnected. may or may not work for you
