part of EDO RAM not working

In my PC, I have 4 slots for EDO RAM, each filled with 4MB dual-in-line. Also I have another SDRAM slot (only one) in which I put a 32 MB SDRAM, Now my computer recognises only 40MB instead of 48MB.. What happened to the 8Mb...

Its a limitation of the mainboard. My good old 430vx does the same thing.

In most mother boards you can not use slot 0&i of the 72 pin sims and 128 pin dims at the same time
