Try replacing your cmos battery, probably the best and cheapest place to start.

Go to the manufacturer's website, download and run a BIOS update.

CMOS battery is the most common problem with that error, and the likely cause of your problem. While a BIOS update isn't a bad thing, it has little chance of helping your situation.

Checked CMOS battery. Panasonic CR2032 putting out 3.05v......This is on initial options screen where it gives you opportunity to go into setup. Went into setup and enabled HDD's (HDD Auto detect and it found them okay. When I F10 and save changes to BIOS and enter, it does not reboot til I "power off" and then back on.
Immediately counts RAM and comes back to Checksum error - Defaults loaded.

What MoBo are you using? I had similar probs with an IWill. My troubles are all well documented here (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum5/HTML/001611.html)
