I am about to build a new system. I am going to use Windows 98SE as my opertaing system. The question I am asking is what software or kind of software should I not install or install for max compatibllity. Like IE 5 or Netscape, shouldI use Outlook 2000, Express or a 3rd party e-mail client like Eudora? Should I totally aviod 16 bit apps? Stuff like that. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful. I want to try to contorl the amount of times my system blue screens or locks up and if I can help that by install "proper" software then I'll do whatever it takes.

Thanks

Kenny

First you say that you want max compatibility then you say that you are going to install win98 on it then you ask again which programs should you install that would make it easy to use. Then I went back up and read the 1st line again that said you wanted win98 on it then I continued to read on and you said that you wanted to limit the blue screen lock ups. Then I noticed myself reading the 1st line again. And my reply to you is you can't! If you don't want the blue screen of death then take out the pins in your monitor that control the blue. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Seriously Any of those would be fine just becarful what you load on there. And try not to get too many programs that do the same things. Like IE5 and netscape. and outlook2000 which i stay away from completly. Outlook express is all I need. Get a program called cleansweep that way when you install something you can uninstall it ALL of it.

I used cleansweep it F**ked my system up. I am done usinf those uninstallers thgey only seem to mess things up worse. I might use a small one to find two of the same files and orpaned ddls but besides that I will never use another uninstaller. Thanks for the info thogh.
