Yet another problem with win98....

I use a screen capture utility called HyperSnap DX. There is a little scanner icon on the toolbar of this prog. Now when I want to use my scanner, I click on the icon and my scanner software pops up. I pre-scan, make adjustments if necessary.

Then I try to do a regular scan and nothing. I can't exit, or scan, or anything. Now if I just scan to begin with,(no pre-scan), it'll scan. Then back to hypersnap to edit and save. But, still the scanner software won't do anything. Have to ctrl/alt/del and end task, and that even takes 3 to 4 tries before it works. In other words, I can only do one thing, and then it stops responding. Also at this point, HyperSnap is frozen too.

I get one shot here. If I don't get it the first time, I have to crtl/alt/del, end task and try starting all over again.

Anyone have a similar problem? What should I look for, and do? Not sure where to start here. I have uninstalled the capture re-booted, and re-installed it. I have re-installed the scanner drivers (latest from musetek).

I've run my system files checker, and version conflict checker.

My scanner is a Musetek 600CP, connected through my printer port.

Thanks in advance to all..

Mike P.

Been there, done that.. I went to scan a resume for a friend of mine and tried to fax it to her perspective employer and everything
crapped out. No Ctrol/alt/del, scanner window
froze, a real mess. Tried a restart, no luck
Had to unistall both 'Ring Central", Twain drivers and scanner software and reinstall.
All is good now. How do you figure that????

Hey MadMan!

What about this? My scanner is hooked up to my printer port. It doesn't show up anywhere... Not in device manager, not in control panel, no where...

Is that normal for this type of installation?

I'd like to remove scanner drivers, and twain drivers, but where do I find them? Feel so impotent on this one. Usually i can reason where to start and what SHOULD be done(?) but not a clue.

What I did was install the drivers "over" existing ones.

HELP!!!!!!!!

by the way,

Thanks

Mike P.

I had similar problems with my scanner too. I ended up uninstalling then closing all programs by hitting ctrl+alt+del then end task. Once I re-installed that way no problems.
