I was thinking of removing my internal zip drive and installing a second hard drive because my mp3's and games are taking up alot of space. I have a few questions about it though, my setup now is 10gb ibm 7200(primary master)zip(primary slave),asus 50x (secondary master), mitsumi cdr(secondary slave)does having a second drive cause conflicts- you have to install the operating system on the new drive right, or do you? Will this cause a big performance decrease and would I want the two drives chained together or seperate? do you then select which drive certain apps go on and would they both share the same registry, sorry for all the questions but this seems like it would cause more problems than it would be worth but I know alot of people do this so anyone who can help me I would be thankful. My specs are:asus p2b,p3 450@504,256 mb pc133,asus 50x,sb live, mitsumi cdr, iomega zip,ibm 10 gb deskstar 7200,win 98
Personally I would just put it as slave on the primary cable, and no you dont have to put any operating software as your c drive already has that.you could install all your programs on this drive eventually and just the os on the c drive so it makes it alot easier if it crashes.Remember once you install to go into the bios and change from zip to drive specs.hope this helps.
I see after posting that I did not answer one question and yes it shares the same registry.also I quess I should not assume that you know to fdisk and format the drive after setting up the bios. Then after that windows will recognize it and assign its drive letter.sometimes this will change shortcuts, ect also because of cdroms.

You could also get a big drive, like 20Gb or so. And copy everything from the old drive to the new drive and keep the zip.
