Ok im trying to fix my sis's computer. 1st off I reformatted her drive and set it up and all that good stuff in my cpu because it wouldn't boot in hers because she had no ram (somone stole it.I got 64mb today and now it still wont start up.
Nothing comes on the screen her hard drive is ok cause it works in my computer and her video card and monitor are ok too. When i turn the power on it wont turn off unless I unplug it or turn it off from the back. I also tested the new ram and yes its in the right slot.
Does anyone have any idea's on what could be wrong?
Thanks for the help Susan. Turns out whoever stoled the ram also messed with the jumpers.Anyhow I campared her motherboard to mine(same)and set hers to be exactly like mine.It worked!!woooo whoooooooo!

Thanks Anyways

Are you sure that the memory is compatible with the board?

If you by any chance removed the CPU at some time, make sure it's replaced nice and tight.
Recheck all your cables and power leads, even ones that you didn't remove to make sure they are all in tight.

Like Susan said, the RAM is sometimes VERY hard to snap in. Don't break the mobo! Also I got bit by some cables that would go in either way, most won't . Since, I use a xtra fine point sharpie and mark them "up" and "hd" or "cd". GLuk, DrVette

Do you have Advanced power management turned on?.. in the bios? Or do you have it turned on in windows?.. if you have them both turned on turn the windows one off.. and also disable your virus scan..

I had the same problem the other day, and fianally fixed it my removing and replacing the RAM. Then I had to put the RAM in the old system to do something and when I put it back in the other system, same problem.
This time I pulled the cables out of the way and looked inside real good. I swear that the RAM properly installed, but removing it and putting it back in would make it work.
