I've tried getting to Wikipedia for a couple of days but a google search keps dropping me off at other sites which have links for all sorts of junk including soft porn!
At my age?!
The worst offender is called bediddle.com which I've told IE to bar yet still, up it comes.
Is it me or is it them?

Works fine right now. Right quick this morning.

Working fine here as well. Sounds as if you acquired a redirector from somewhere. If re-setting your defaults doesn't cure the situation, read the instructions here (http://discussions.virtualdr.com/showthread.php?t=167915) and post the appropriate logs at VirtualDoctor (SysOpt's sister site). We'll be happy to have a look.

Hello again.
I have worked out that the reason all these popup menus keep activating is because whatever was wrong with my computer, software, motherboard, virus, malware, is sytill causing thes disruptions.
The MOBO comes out this weekend and I'll be running on the laptop till all is up and running.
I see Vipre is running a super saver for one day only - tomorrow so I shall get that and use that in the new setup. High ups in the Forum seem to think that's the cat's whiskers for AV. Should I take up the offer of the Firewall - both from Sunbelt or is my Routr's firewall enough?
Lots of questions there and I hate to have to ask but I don't know of a better place to ask them.

If you have redirect problems, the first thing i'd look for is spyware. Run Vipre and see if that fixes it. Malwarebytes is another good one (as recommended in AV/Antispy).
A hardware router is ok. if you want protection for outbound traffic, you should use a software firewall also. You can try the Sunbelt (Kerio) FW, but I usually recommend Comodo. Again, in the AV/Antispy.

MK to the rescue once more! Who is that masked man?
Thanks - as ever. Bought Vipre and Sunbelt Firewal this am ready for the new machine. BUT.
Having to postpone rebuild for a week as pressure of other work intervenes. Poor old me.

In the meantime, stop using that thing. It's not wise to use a hijacked PC.
If you insist on using the PC, scan it first with Vipre. You don't need a license because it's trialware.

OK Bill,I live and learn.
I bought Vipre for the new set up plus Sunbelt Firewall but I'll get the trial version to use on the old MOBO.From then on I'll be using this laptop which is faster than my PC being dual core etc.
I will check all three HD s with Vipre before I start the rebuild and I will format the SATA which willbecome the C: in the new setup with Vista Home prem.
The new MOBO only has one IDE which I'll need for the CD-ROM and CD/DVD-R/RW. Does that sound OK to you?

A fine plan it is. :)

Didger think I'd gone away? No such luck.
I bought the new MOBO, dual core processor plus a super super cooler, 4Gb DDRAM and a bigger power supply and got it all put together as I have many times in the past and.......NADA!
So my techie friend (who ought to be one of you top experts) has taken the bits away to test one by one in his mock up and either tweak it or give it back to me to return under warranty. I am not a happy bunny obviously but better to get it right than have the whole lot drop down dead later
So, that's where I am at present, still using the faithful Dell inspiron which is doing a great job for me.
