make sure you have download the latest patches from adaptec to make sure that it will recognize that model. Which version of the software are you using? if 3.5 (there has been 3 MAJOR updates released for it) and if the new 4.0 (there has been 1 MAJOR and 2 minor updates for it) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I did almost the same thing when I pulled all cards, cpu and ram from a HP 8570c.
I put em in an Abit BE-6 2, there is some kind of aspi layer, (explained to me as something like a twain, but not exactly)that has to be installed before the drivers will work.
This aspi layer was part of the recovery disk on the HP, (the burner came with the original HP before he put in the tnt and sblive ect).
We had to go out and get an HP 8100 original installation cd from a similar unit to get windows to recognize it as a burner and not just a cd rom.
I tried to find the layer or drivers inside the HP recovery cd but could'nt. HP tech support cant speak a sentence that doesn't begin with: "put the recovery disk in and..."
We got it to work http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Have you tried to set it up as a secondary master? Thats what I had to do with my burner.

I did read on Adaptecs site somewhere that they did not have a aspi driver compatible with via busmastering on some via chipsets...

I think I was checking for DirectCD support for W2K at the time.

Intel chipset aspi drivers will not work. Sorry...keep looking, you'll find something before too long

I have an H.P. 9100i and the only way it is recognized by my software is if i have Direct-CD installed,if you think it will help E-Mail me and ill try to get ya the install CD? It may or may not work for the writer you have.
