windows 2000-i must run hitachi drive fitness due to a registry-file corruption stop c000218
systemroot\system\config\software
(all transalations from german)
registry could not load structure file or its protocol or alternative
structure file is eighter damages, not present or not writable(all translations from german)

1. its an old drive-160/2 hitachi deskstar on a ide-raid.
some people had this with new drive
some people say ide-raid-controller must be deinstalled.
also that 48bit LBA support for atapi in w2k was a theme

i did a new partition-install. resinstalling older ghost-images will not help.
i am sure its a drive-problem. if yes, and i will use a new one, could i possibly work with the images?

so maybe i can repair or erase boot-sector and mirror-back the newest partition-image.i have a partition-copy and three image-copies(3 locations).
should i first try the repair and then erasing bootsector.
will the other partions be lost when erasing boot-sector?
backing up all my other data is a pain. i must setup winxp.

WINXP-SETUP
i am still indecided if i should install it on an ide 320(wd3200AAJB) and use sata/usb-drive as backup or use a sata-drive. my older MB does only have SATA NOT SATA II. ga-7n400 pro2 rev.2.0
i would have given up without your endless help. it cannot be appreciated again and again. thank you very much.
