Hey i got a question. Ok my friend has a hard drive he might get and it will be his second hard drive. How would he go about doing this? how does he install it? Set it up?? from where does he set it up?? In the bios or somewhere else?? Please respond. Thanks so much

He should install it on a different channel than that of his primary harddrive for fastest performance when doing hd to hd coping and such. he will need to set up his bios to use the 2nd drive (the best option if his bios supports it is to just set the configuration to AUTO.
(he will also need to double check the jumper settings on the hd as well as anyother IDE devices such as CD's and zip's ect)

So your saying to install on a differant channel. And to set it up in the bios. Do i do auto detect??? HOw do i go about setting it up. Do i just do auto on everything????

Different channel meaning the secondary IDE on the MB. If the CD Drive is already on the same cable with the first HD, then you will need another cable to plug it into the secondary on the MB.

Under Standard CMOS Setup in the BIOS, now set your Secondary Master IDE to Auto. This allows the BIOS to automatically find and configure the drive each time it boots up.
