On my system IE will load in realtime, but Netscape takes about 6 seconds to load...is it just because IE is integrated and soaked into every single pore of win98? i know im nitpicking here...but hey six seconds can really add up....

well windows is, by default, optimized to load IE much faster than netscape will ever load .... basically because billy boy wants you to think," hey ... look at the difference, i'll just stick with IE because it's so fast ..." and forget about netscape. what you don't see, the behind-the-scenes coding of the program itself, netscape is much more secure and always will be thanks to the open-source developement that it has decided to switch over to. i'll always use netscape, i'd never trust my internet connection to anything else.

I believe because when u start window, IE has already started in the background because it uses the same thing as your explorer windows uses to surf files on your comp.
Well whatever the reason, this is basically the sole reason I stick with IE...This and that links bar you can put up there. Neoplanet is another good one that loads in no time because it runs on the IE code, but seems alot more stable, and looks better too.
I think you should check out NP as an alternate browser, although i dont know the sercurity issues behind it (I dont really think its a problem with any browser, but it cant hurt to be paranoid)

Another thing, I wake up this morning, click on my favorites, and there is a whole new folder called "media" with about 20 links in it (disney, cnn, MSNBC,) where did this come from????? I dont need them adding things for me. this both scares me and pisses me off.

Chip,
If you have reinstalled any portion or reset any settings from within IE it will by default reload the "included favorites folders" (these companys paid M$ big bucks to get their website links put into the software) to get rid of them all you have to do is right click on the folder and choose delete. /forum/biggrin.gif
